Har Ghar Museum

Introduction:

Inspired by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India has launched the Har Ghar Museum campaign — celebrating the belief that every home holds a piece of history worth preserving - be it an heirloom, antique, artefact, or a unique collectible.

Through this nationwide campaign, Individual collectors/families are invited to share photographs and videos of their personal collection—items that carry stories, memories, and cultural value. Whether it's a relic passed down through generations or a rare collectible, every contribution adds to our nation’s living history.

NCSM aims at creating a digital archive of authentic stories and priceless possessions by Individual or families. Each contribution is documented through images, write-ups, and interviews with collectors, capturing the cultural richness and historical value of everyday objects.

Har Ghar Museum fosters a sense of shared heritage and encourages curiosity, discovery, and awareness about the importance of preservation — one home at a time.

How to Participate:

• Select an Authentic Item: Pick a rare artefact, antique, heirloom, relic or any rare collection from your home with historical or emotional value.
• Capture It Well and Tell Its Story:
  • Take a clear photo or video of your collection in portrait format.
  • You can describe your collection either by writing about it or talking in a video.
  • Please make sure the photo or video is of good quality.
  • Feel free to include any background story, family tradition, or how you got the item. Any extra details will help us with documentation.
  • If you send us unedited videos, we can edit them for you.
  • If you’re sending photos, try to take them from different angles to show the item better.
• Ensure Authenticity: Submissions must be original, owned by you, and unedited.

• Selected stories will be digitally archived and showcased via NCSM’s social media platforms/channels.
